UMR Statement on NIH Cuts to Medical Research Costs

February 9, 2025

“Facilities and Administrative” costs are a very real part of conducting biomedical research. The recent administrative action to significantly cut funding for these costs will immediately result in less groundbreaking and lifesaving medical research. The longer-term consequences are even more detrimental, jeopardizing America’s health, economic prosperity, and standing as the world leader in biomedical innovation. UMR urges NIH to rescind this short-sighted supplemental guidance.
