Summary
The 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act invested $10.4 billion over two years in biomedical research through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Much of those funds are now at work across the country in the service of better health and a healthier economy. This report demonstrates how Recovery Act dollars are working at this critical time in our nation’s history. We highlight some of the most exciting projects funded and demonstrate the broad anticipated economic impact of these investments, including tens of thousands of jobs saved or created, entire industries rejuvenated, and health care cost reductions.
